The following is a true story, happened to a close friend of mine. But first, do you believe in angels? Because I do. I don’t know as I’ve ever met one, and that’s just the thing. How would you know?
Snow Angels in Disguise by allie taylor
Several years ago she told me this story. I had chills hearing it the first time, and again writing it today. She’d recently relocated here from Seattle, previously from Switzerland. In a sense, she was indeed a stranger in a foreign land. It was a snowy winter day, around noon of New Year’s Eve, 2006. One of her two small children was sick, and they’d just been to the doctor. Her husband was at work. On the return trip from the doctor appointment, going up the very long steep hill into their large subdivision, the tires got stuck in the snow. She was maybe a mile from her house. The snow was coming down heavily, a whiteout. She fumbled for the hazards, started praying “Dear Jesus, help us, we’re stuck.”
She turns around, prays a little prayer with her kids in the back. Then she calls her husband at work, he says he’ll make the long drive back in the snow to come and dig them out.
Meanwhile, a man comes out of a nearby house, asks if they’re ok.
“We’re ok,” she says, “my husband’s on his way from work. It’ll be a little while, but he’s coming.”
So the man goes back in the house.
A few minutes later, the garage door of another house opens and a big red pickup truck pulls out, backs down the street in the snow, stops behind her van.
Two men get out. They look European, wear knee-high laced suede boots, goggles. They’re both tan, nice ski outfits. She remembers, they don’t look like they belong here. She rolls down her window. One has a friendly smile, striking blue eyes, a beard, introduces himself as Simon, and his friend, Peter. She explains to them she’s stuck, but lives nearby. Her husband is on the way.
Simon smiles, says confidently, ” My friend and I, we are going to help you. So why don’t you and the kids just get in my truck, and I’ll drive you all home. Peter will dig your van out, follow us and drive it home for you.”
Strangely, she feels very peaceful, comfortable with this. Normally, she’d think like you and me…don’t get in a car with a strange man you don’t know with your kids. But for some very odd reason, she feels peaceful and trusting, almost carried along.
She transfers the kids to the backseat of the truck, finds there’s a booster seat already there for her littlest. She gets in the front, sees a sticker on the dashboard, says “Jesus loves you.” There’s not much conversation on the short drive to her house. Peter has no trouble unearthing the van, follows them back. Simon pulls in to the curb by her house, asks her to open the garage so Peter can drive the van straight in.
Overwhelmed, she says, “I don’t know how to thank you. Thank you so much. This means such a great deal to me.”
Simon, he says, “It’s the last day of the year, and Peter and I, we wanted to do a good deed to close out the year.” And off they go.
She calls her husband. “Honey, I’m home now. Two men, Simon and Peter brought us home.”
“What? You got in a truck with the kids with a man you don’t even know?” She tells him the story, explains the peace she felt, how God sent them to rescue her.
She’s just so grateful and overwhelmed, keeps thinking of the kind strangers who helped her. The following week, she bakes goodies for Simon and Peter, drives back to the house on the steep hill at the beginning of the subdivision, where the red truck backed out of the garage. She knocks on the door and a lady answers. She explains to the lady the cookies are for Simon and Peter, a small thank you for all their help last week in the storm. The lady, she looks confused. She doesn’t know anyone named Simon or Peter, no one nearby with those names.
“But you have the big red pick-up in the garage?”
“No, we have no pick-up truck,” says the lady. And she shuts the door.
“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares” (Hebrews 13:2)
If you have an angel story, I hope you’ll share it with us today.

Amazing! How fortunate for your friend that God chose to send those angels to her in her need. I love this story, for it shows her faith. She and her children prayed to God, and they completely trusted that He would respond to their need. How appropriate that the men were named Simon and Peter. I was struck by the fact that she noticed the clear blue eyes of the man who spoke to her. I always think of Archangel Michael as having those clear blue eyes. It brings tears to my eyes; I thank God for his constant reminders of the angel realm that exists for the special purpose of helping those in need. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, Allie, the tears are streaming. I can’t tell you how I needed to read this. My story happened in California. I was on my way to work one morning, had just gotten up the long, uphill onramp to the freeway and my 1968 Mustang stalled (due to a leaky radiator, I found out later). There I am, sitting on a California freeway during morning rush hour. I didn’t just pray; I was calling out to God for help. All of a sudden a little white Toyota pickup truck pulled to the shoulder and two guys dressed in flannel shirts and jeans jump out and run to my car. One of them comes to my window. I roll it down and he says, “We’re going to push you to the side of the road.” He doesn’t tell me they’re going to do anything else. I say, “Thank you so much!!” He then looks at me and says, “Remember, Jesus loves you!” I’m speechless. They push me to the shoulder. I watch them wave at me, jump in their truck, and zoom off. I sit there wondering who they were. I turn the key in the ignition…and the car starts. I get to work safely and am able to get the car to a mechanic without further incident. Of course, I never saw that truck again during my morning commute, and even on busy California freeways, there are cars and people you recognize when you travel at the same time every day. THANK YOU, LORD, FOR TAKING CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN!!

What a beautiful example of how God loves us! I absolutely believe in angels! My first story is about an invisible angel. Once, with all five young children in our station wagon, I was just going to pull out to the left in order to pass another car when all of a sudden my upper left arm became extremely hot, “preventing” me from pulling out. At that precise moment, another car zoomed past at a high speed on my left — so close to our car that it actually shook. My second story involves an “angel unaware” who left me a sticky note on the bathroom mirror, knowing I would see it early the next morning before leaving to have exploratory surgery about which I was feeling very nervous: “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” (Deuteronomy 31:6). I memorized that verse and repeated it many times prior to the surgery (which, thankfully, found nothing). It had a wonderfully calming effect on me then, and many times since.

When traveling in Washington DC with 3 young children , we decided to get out and take a picture. We left the keys in the van by accident. It was cold and a locksmith wouldn’t be able to come for hours- according to the number we called.
We prayer for an answer and soon this man walked over. He was an elderly black man and a girl who looked like his grand daughter. He walked by once and we smiled, but he came by again and asked what was wrong.
His eyes were so sparkly and kind, and we shared we were locked out. This man did not have a vehicle with him, but had a key ring of keys. He said, ” I think my key will work”. He put it in our van door and it opened immediately. The kids jumped in, I pet my dog on the head (she was stuck inside) and turned to thank the man, but he was no where to be seen.
There weren’t many people walking and it we could see in every direction. Both David and I felt they were angels. It doesn’t sound as amazing as it actually was.

How wonderful! And think about the possibility that sometimes God uses US as His angels!

Wow, these are truly amazing stories, thank you so much for taking the time to share with the rest of us. I hope there will be more. Interesting to me, is that in each situation mentioned so far, there was an emergency needing quick, immediate action. And in a couple of the stories including the one I told, there were two angels.

My story is:
I had just moved to Nashville, TN. I bought a one-of-a-kind desk at a flea market. Somehow I got it into the back of my midsized car. It didn’t occur to me until I returned to my apartment that I had to somehow by myself carry it from the car, up a steep flight of stairs to my apartment. I didn’t know what to do nor did I have anyone to call to help me. As I’m thinking what to do, a man late 20s/early 30s wearing a gray sweatshirt & jeans comes around the corner and offers to help me. Usually, I would never let a strange guy into my apartment, but I needed the help so I let him help me get the desk into my apartment. He chatted a little with me about the last tenants. After that night, I never saw him again. He may have been another resident of the apartment complex, but I’ve always wondered if he was an angel.
I think it’s interesting that each of us remembers very specific details about these angels like their clothing.

A friend and I were returning from dinner after a monsoon rainstorm, in the carpool lane, and my electrical system shut down – no lights, brakes, or any controls would work. My friend was screaming, “We’re going to die, we’re going to die!” as my car drifted over 5 lanes and stopped, crooked, poking into the last lane of traffic, which was at the confluence of two freeways. Terrified, our car shuddering as cars and trucks screeched past, honking and barely missing us, a car came from behind, parked, a man jumped out, pushed our car about 10 yards down the road and out of danger, jumped back in his car and was gone. We ALWAYS wondered….and always will!

What a wonderful story and how amazing it is that so many people experience these (coincidences), however we know for a certainty that these are real life dramas that take place under the watchful EYE of our HEAVENLY FATHER because HE loves each person so very much and sends His Ambassadors to guide HIS children in many unexpected and miraculous ways.

What a great story about angels! Thanks for sharing it with us.
I tried making an angel in the snow a couple of years ago, the snow was so deep and I was laughing so hard I couldn’t get up. By the time I did you never would have guess what it was. You made an awesome angel in the snow.

Allie, I just love this post and it reminded me of when an angel showed up at my home.
Years ago, with a three year old by my side and a one year old on my hip, I answered the door and saw a woman standing on our front steps with a beautiful, three year old little boy. She introduced herself and her son, and said they had purchased the home across the street. They hadn’t moved in yet and were living about 40 minutes away. I invited her in and we talked at length while the kids played quite nicely together. She said she wasn’t feeling well, had recently found out that she was pregnant, and really wanted to lay down before driving back home. I decided I’d take the three kids to the playground down the street to give her some peace and quiet. Now if you’ve ever had a “gut feeling” about someone, or feel like you’ve know a person forever even though you’ve already met them, then you know what I’m talking about. There was an instantaneous connection between our families, and Mary and I felt completely comfortable with each other. So comfortable with each other in fact that I allowed a stranger to rest in my home without me being there and she to allow a stranger to take her son to the park! Neither of us had any concerns. There are some things in life you “just know”. And this was one of them. Our first meeting always reminds me that exact Bible verse and I’m forever grateful that our families have remained as close through the years.
